(Case in point.) It's got me wondering: why weren't patch panels always designed this way? Is there a disadvantage. I'm noticing that a lot of newer patch panels, instead of punch-down wiring on the back end, now simply have RJ45 connectors on either end. Right now seems like our manufacturer of choice has a 52-week lead time on having any new units available. Hello, we are looking to replace our aging wireless infrastructure in our warehouse.

I'm at the point of just doing a clean install of the OS since I have the bootable USB but I wanted to pose this part problem the group for suggestions.

I then tried creating a bootable USB and tried the update / upgrade process from the USB drive but the same problem occurred, it looked like the upgrade installed but the machine would complete the update and restart. I tried numerous times and ran disk first aid. If you have a newer Mac and a USB drive that supports USB 3.0, everything should run fairly fast. Use the arrow keys to select which drive to boot from and then simply press Enter. All the progress bars completed and it looked like it just wouldn't get to the restart after install. Anyway, the grey MacBook and Recovery 10.11.2 icons are for my internal OS X and the orange OS X and Recovery 10.11.3 are for the version installed on my external drive. After the OS downloaded and installed the machine hung and wouldn't complete the install. It took a long time, but once it finished I was able to continue with the upgrade to the OS. I found the answer for that and ran some commands in terminal to restart the filevault conversion process. At 'this' point, insert the Bootable USB Disk you created and press and hold the option key. Hold the keys until the grey screen goes off completely (the machine should be restarting). What that turned out to be was a problem with filevault. Reset PRAM of your machine by holding option+command+P+R keys together soon after you press the Power button and hear the startup chime. When I tried to reinstall the OS it would hang and the target hard disk was greyed out. Using target mode worked great to pull the data off the macbook.
